The <i>Toxoplasma gondii</i> GT1 strain has been sequenced for comparative genome analysis by <a href="http://www.tigr.org/tdb/e2k1/tga1/intro.shtml">The Institute for Genomic Research</a> in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania. The whole genome shotgun sequence project has the accession number AAQM00000000. The latest version of this project (02) has the accession number <a href =" http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/viewer.fcgi?db=nuccore&val=AAQM00000000.2">AAQM02000000</a> and consists of contig sequences AAQM02000000-AAQM02003590. An update containing scaffolds (EQ967475-EQ970679) with some annotation was recently released. This WGS project was originally submitted incorrectly as <i>Toxoplasma gondii</i> strain RH. It was determined to be strain GT1, and the organism name was corrected to <i>Toxoplasma gondii</i> strain GT1 in February 2008.
